Colin Durborow Colin is currently enrolled at West Virginia University. He was a dependable middle infielder with good hands. Colin was a three-year varsity letterman and captain of his team in his senior year. He was a member of three WPIAL championship teams (2004-06) and a member of the 2006 AAA state champion Rams. Colin was a member of the all-section team 2004-06 and all-WPIAL team 2005-06. He was a three-time scholar athlete (2004-06) and a 2005 Citizenship Award winner. Top of page John Karr John is currently enrolled at Penn State. He was a three-year letter winner at Pine Richland High School and was also a team captain his senior year. He compiled a career record of 27-1 with 273 career strikeouts. He was a three-time All-District selection and was named All-WPIAL his junior and senior seasons. John was named the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Player of the Year and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Player of the Year his senior season. He went 14-0 with 146 strikeouts as a senior as the team went 23-4. John threw a complete game, one-hitter and struck out 13 in the state championship game to lead Pine-Richland to the State AAA Championship. The team won sectionals and the WPIAL during each of his three years on the varsity as well. He went 6-1 with five complete games, a 2.90 ERA and 58 strikeouts as a sophomore and then went 7-0 with six complete games, a 2.16 ERA and 69 strikeouts as a junior, as he started and won the WPIAL championship game in both seasons. John threw a one-hitter in his first varsity start as a sophomore. He played in the Keystone State Games and was also selected to play for the Allegheny Pirates fall select team sponsored by the Pittsburgh Pirates. John also played basketball for one season and football for three seasons. Top of page Blake Lalli Blake currently plays for the Chicago Cubs minor league Class A affiliate Peoria Chiefs. He had a successful college career at Gardner-Webb University, where he graduated in 2005. Blake batted .389 with 11 HR, 39 RBI in his final year in college, where he was a first-team All-Atlantic Sun Conference selection. At Pine-Richland, Blake led his team to a 16-3 record in 2001. He batted .517 as a senior to lead the team. Blake was named team Most Valuable Player, and also was an All-Conference and All-Area selection in both his junior and senior seasons. He was selected as a member of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review’s Terrific Nine All-Star team as a junior and senior. He was a three-year starter and three-year letter winner. Blake played third base, shortstop and pitched for the Rams. Top of page Dale Mollenhauer Dale is currently enrolled at East Carolina University. Dale earned four baseball letters as a top infielder at Pine-Richland High School. He batted .507 with six home runs and 37 RBI to help guide the Rams to the sectional and WPIAL championships. Dale was a three-time all-section performer and two-year selection to the "Terrific 10" squad. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 24th round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft as a departing senior. He also earned a basketball letter as a guard during his sophomore season. Dale played summer and fall ball with the Mid-Atlantic Rookies. He was a Pine-Richland High School Scholar-Athlete all four prep years. Also, Dale was a two-time Conference-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient and was named to ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll for three semesters. Top of page Cono Passione Cono graduated from Pine-Richland in 2007. He served as co-captain of the team in his senior year, along with his brother Daniel. He was among the statistical team leaders in all offensive categories in his senior season. Cono was also a member of the 2006 state championship team. He was a versital athlete, playing several positions on the field. After graduating from Pine-Richland as a four-year scholar athlete, Cono is currently attending the University of Akron studying engineering. Top of page Daniel Passione Dan graduated from Pine-Richland in 2007. He served as co-captain of the team in his senior year, along with his brother Cono. Dan was the starting catcher on the 2006 state championship team. He was selected as all-section catcher his senior year. After graduating from Pine-Richland as a four-year scholar athlete, Dan is currently attending the University of Akron studying engineering. Top of page Joshua Spicer Joshua currently is attending Marietta College and is the starting second baseman. Joshua graduated from Pine-Richland in 2005. He was a 3 year starter at second base and a 3 year letterman. Josh was a member of the varsity team that won WPIAL and section titles in 2004 and 2005. Joshuas varsity batting average was .377. His fielding percentage was .980. Joshua graduated with at 3.7 GPA and was named "Who's Who Among Student Athletes." Top of page Neil Walker Neil was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1st round (11th overall) of the June 2004 baseball draft. Neil was a 2004 graduate of Pine-Richland High School, where he starred in both baseball and football. Neil hit .657 with 13 HR and 42 RBIs as a senior while helping the Rams win the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) championship. He was selected to USA Today's 10-player All-American team. Neil was a 2003 AFLAC All-American as a junior and as a senior in football with Pine-Richland. He caught 68 passes for 1,128 yards as a wide receiver to lead the Rams to a WPIAL title and a berth in the state championship game. Neil was an Associated Press First-Team All-State selection as a senior and was a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette "Fabulous 22" two-time selection as a junior and senior. He was also a two-time Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Male Athlete of the Year. Neil signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Clemson University (S.C.) but opted to play minor league professional baseball after being drafted by the Pirates. Neil was rated by Baseball America as the Pirates' No. 2 prospect entering the 2007 season. He currently is a member of the Pirates AAA affiliate Indianapolis Indians. Top of page |
